Grad Students’ Forum Registration

This year’s overarching theme is “Succeeding in a Virtual World: Advancing Your Research and Career Journey.” We are honored to announce that Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, United States Congresswoman for Delaware and UD graduate student alumna, will open the Forum, followed by a keynote panel featuring Wei Chen, Ph.D, Managing Director, Head of Credit Strategy and Analytics at Barclays; Fatimah Conley, J.D., UD’s Interim Chief Diversity Officer; Dr. Rudolf (Rudi) Eigenmann, Professor, UD’s Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and leader of DARWIN (Delaware Advanced Research Workforce and Innovation Network) project; and Dr. Lou Rossi, Dean of UD’s Graduate College and Vice Provost for Graduate and Professional Education.

2021 GSG Grad Students’ Forum Keynote Speaker Bios

Wei Chen, Ph.D., Managing Director, Head of Credit and Data Analytics joined Barclays on February 18, 2020 just before the COVID-19 crisis. He leads our first-line Credit strategy, Strategic Analytics, and data strategy to drive sustainable profitable growth in the US Consumer Bank (USCB).  Prior to joining Barclays, he worked at Citigroup and American Express with more than 25 years of experience covering risk management, analytics, decision science and data strategy, a doctorate in operations research from Columbia University and studied mathematics at Peking University.

Rudolf Eigenmann is a professor at the University of Delaware, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From 1995 to 2017 he was at Purdue University, where he was a professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From 2013-2017, he also served as Program Director in the National Science Foundation’s Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure. His core research interests include optimizing compilers, programming methodologies, tools, and performance evaluation for high-performance computing, as well as the design of cyberinfrastructure. Dr. Eigenmann is an IEEE Fellow. He has published his work in over 180 papers. His Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science is from ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

Louis Rossi (B.S., Harvey Mudd College, 1988; M.A., University of California Berkeley, 1990; Ph.D., University of Arizona, 1993) is the inaugural dean of the Graduate College. He joined the faculty of UD’s Department of Mathematical Sciences in 2001 after completing a National Science Postdoctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University and serving on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Lowell.  His research uses analytical and numerical methods to derive and understand the partial differential equations that describe fluid vortex motion, plankton, ants, slime mold, robots and data packets.  He enjoys involving both graduate and undergraduates in his research projects.  Dean Rossi has served the University in many capacities with colleagues from across campus, has a joint appointment in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences and is a former chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

Fatimah Conley, Esq., serves as the University of Delaware’s Interim Chief Diversity Officer. Fatimah joined the university’s Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) in 2015 and joined the Office of the General Counsel in 2016. She also served as the university’s Interim Title IX Coordinator and Director of OEI in 2018. In her current role, she serves on President Assanis’s leadership team, and is the senior advisor to the President on matters of equity, diversity, inclusion and social justice, and she leads the university’s Office of Institutional Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Equal rights, diversity and inclusion has always been a driver in Fatimah’s life, both personally and professionally. A native Hoosier, she moved to New Orleans and attended Tulane Law School when Hurricane Katrina hit. Fatimah remained in New Orleans after graduation and worked as an associate at Davillier Law Group, LLC. Her practice was focused on representing Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in complex business transactions, labor and employment matters and state and federal economic development opportunities for communities most affected by the hurricane’s devastation. Fatimah was an advocate for equitable education and was a founding member of the New Orleans College Preparatory Academy, a charter school focused on preparing low-income, minority students with academic and life skills for success in college, career and beyond.
