Welcome to the UD Abroad Blog

Students in the Winter 2022 Athens ENGL micro program

In 1923, the University of Delaware founded what is considered the first study abroad program by a U.S. institution. Today, over 30% of UD undergrads study abroad at least once, and some as early as freshman year! This study abroad blog features many of their stories.

Interested in Studying Abroad?

Students select from spring or fall semester programs or shorter winter or summer session programs, which are often lead by UD faculty. There are both international and domestic sites where students take a full load of academic credits taught in English or perhaps in a foreign language.  In addition to their studies, some students participate in internships or community service or work on sharpening their foreign language skills.  All students make new friends, gain new insights, and develop intercultural skills.

To begin your own study abroad experience, learn about upcoming programs on the Center for Global Programs and Services website.
