British Virgin Islands: Unfinished Projects

Submitted by Frank Sullivan on the 2016 summer session program in the British Virgin Islands sponsored by the College of Health Sciences…

This week in Tortola, British Virgin Islands we learned a lot about our culture and how it impacts the other cultures we interact with. While working in Peeble’s hospital, we interacted with many patients from different backgrounds. We learned all about the island of Tortola itself as well as Virgin Gorda, St. Thomas, and Joost Van Dyke. We were taught all about “island time” when it comes to deadlines and that not too many people are quick to meet deadlines. We drove by many buildings that were under construction, but clearly not being worked on. It appears as though construction is left unattended here. Many houses are under construction, but not being worked on. It was definitely a culture shock to see this. The picture shows a building that supposedly has been under construction for 3 years. Very interesting to interact with the BVI culture so far. Will post more.Tortola, BVI Frank Sullivan 16J British Virgen Islands HLTH NURS sm
