Trooping the Color in London

Submitted by Bethany Mallick on the 2015 summer session program in London, England sponsored by the Department of Art…

The Queen’s Birthday parade, Trooping the Color, was an amazing experience to really get into the culture of London. Once at the parade grounds near Buckingham Palace, I was filled with excitement at being able to see the entire Royal Family and to be a part of something that all of the locals take pride in. Throughout the parade, it was amazing to see the enthusiasm and joy that locals had for such a prestigious family. I felt like I was a part of the English culture and it was a great way to start my program. Not only did I get to see all of the Royal Family roll along in carriages, they were only 30 feet away from me! As the parade progressed, my excitement only got higher and I didn’t want to leave this amazing event.
