All faculty, staff, and students are required to pay ($100/year) to license a single seat of ENVI and/or IDL. The webform for doing so is here. These contributions cover the cost of the site license, which minimizes per-unit costs. We license software by the number of maximum concurrent seats. For example, labs should pay for each workstation where the software is installed, since all machines may be used simultaneously. An individual researcher who has the software installed on an office machine, a home machine, and a laptop should only pay for one seat, since they will not be using all machines simultaneously. We ask that licensees use their best judgment on the numbers of seats they require, according to the honor system. A single seat can use either or both ENVI and IDL, as well as any old versions (ENVI EX) or modules licensed to UD (e.g., feature extraction). Please contact us if you wish to use ENVI EX or the feature extraction module email@example.com since our license number is fairly small and we may need to coordinate with others using this module. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if any clarification is needed.
