All faculty, staff, and some students* are required to pay ($175/year) to use Esri software. The webform for doing so is here. These contributions help support the cost of acquiring UD’s annual site license. Students not using Esri software for grant-funded projects may use the software at no charge. Esri software is licensed by the number of maximum concurrent seats. For example, labs should pay for each workstation where the software is installed, since all machines may be used simultaneously. An individual researcher who has the software installed on an office machine, a home machine, and a laptop should only pay for one seat, since they will not be using all machines simultaneously. We ask that licensees use their best judgment on the numbers of seats they require, according to the honor system. A single seat includes all Esri products that UD licenses (these can be found at the geospatial software download page). At least one seat should be purchased for public-facing server software (e.g., ArcGIS Server). Please contact us at email@example.com if any clarification is needed.
