Fall 2016 Tasks and Forms for Gen Ed Reform

During the Fall of 2016, there are three Gen Ed Reform tasks that impact almost every department here at UD. Printed below is an outline of these tasks along with links to documents and forms that will help faculty work with their departments in implementing these aspects of Gen Ed Reform. Note that the UD Course Inventory Forms provided below are demonstrations only that will not save data you type into them. If you are creating your course proposal, therefore, keep your data in a word processor file from which it can be pasted into the real course inventory form that your department will fill out on your behalf.

1. First Year Seminar Re-screening

All First Year Seminar (FYS) courses need to be recertified. The deadline for submitting course revisions to the Faculty Senate is December 1, 2016. Prior to that December deadline, each department will have earlier deadlines for submitting course proposals to your department’s Undergraduate Studies committee, which reviews your course proposal and forwards it on to the Faculty Senate via your College curriculum committee. Your department will be prompted to complete the First Year Seminar Justification Form when your department fills out the UD Course Inventory Form for creating or revising an FYS course. Follow the links below to see the FYS recertification guidelines and the FYS justification form.

2. Multicultural Course Recertification

All multicultural courses need to be recertified. Follow the links below to key documents you will need for submitting your Multicultural revision.

3. Capstone Requirement

All capstone courses need to be recertified, and all students must fulfill a capstone requirement beginning with the freshman class entering in Fall 2017.
