ARCHAEOLOGY in NEW CASTLE PROJECT
(Spring 2011)
Our semester’s project extends the historical archaeological research at the Read House and Gardens in New Castle begun in 1995. The Delaware Historical Society properties in New Castle include the main Read House and Garden lot—the subject of previous research—and two additional lots to the north and east. These lots—labeled the North Lot (across the alley from the Read House) and the Water Lot (directly across the Strand from the Read House, along the Delaware River)–form the focus of this semester’s research.
