Carolina Correa first came to the ELI as a student of English as a second language in 1994. The training she received from the faculty was so effective that she decided to pursue a career in teaching ESL.

In 1999, she began teaching ESL while pursuing her graduate studies. In 2009, after three years of teaching diversity and innovative teaching methods at the University of Delaware’s School of Education, Carolina earned a PhD in Education with a focus on ESL writing. She then joined ELI faculty to teach Reading and Writing in your Field—an advanced course that allows for students to practice academic reading and writing while exploring their individual professional interests.
