ELI shows support for Boston

ELI Staff | April 17, 2013

This afternoon, ELI students, faculty, and staff joined together at Memorial Hall on the University of Delaware campus in order to show their support for the City of Boston as its residents recover from the tragedy that occurred at the Boston Marathon last Monday.

An ELI student from Saudi Arabia contacted the ELI Director, Dr. Scott Stevens, and suggested that everyone in the ELI community should wear blue today as a symbol to show that all of those affected in this tragedy are in our thoughts. Blue is one of the main colors of the Boston Marathon. The idea then evolved, resulting in students, faculty, and staff planning to gather together at Memorial Hall for a moment of silence.

Students created posters and brought flags from their countries to demonstrate that, even though they may not be US citizens, as citizens of the world they are appalled by the events that took place in Boston. They are keeping Bostonians in their hearts and prayers.

The ELI student body is currently made up of over 660 students, representing 22 countries.
