Dear Agricultural Producer,
Please mark your calendars for Delaware Agriculture Week, January 16-21, 2012. Delaware “Ag Week” is in its 7th year and is an ongoing collaboration between University of Delaware Cooperative Extension, Delaware State University Cooperative Extension, and the Delaware Department of Agriculture. The purpose of Ag Week is to provide useful and timely information to people whose livelihoods depend on maintaining the quality and productivity of the Delaware landscape.
In challenging economic times it is more important than ever to take every opportunity to fine-tune your management practices. This year’s Ag Week program includes a variety of exhibits, workshops, and activities on a broad range of topics. Educational sessions are organized by representatives from both the private and public sector and are sponsored by many commercial firms and public agencies. As usual, there will be lots of opportunities to meet with old (and new) friends and receive continuing education credits in pesticide and nutrient management certification.
While most activities take place at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, note that there are also a number of offsite activities including a poultry session in Georgetown on Wednesday morning, the Friends of Agriculture Breakfast at the Harrington Fire Hall on Friday, and the Agriculture Industry Dinner in Dover on Thursday evening, January 26.
Your attendance will help to ensure that Delaware is able to provide this unique venue in future years. I hope to see you in Harrington!
