Research and Educational Outreach

Undergraduate scholar Audrey Wright completed preliminary research on slavery for this project in Summer 2013.  Her research informed the choreography and content of the dance showcase.

Graduate scholar Jennifer Ferris and research assistants Meghan Delp and Stephanie Schmidt are currently conducting archival and primary research to inform the educational outreach component of this project. Research is being conducted at the Cecil County Historical Society in Elkton, MD, Mount Harmon Plantation in Earleville, MD, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York, NY.  Archival research will be completed in August 2014, and lesson materials will be available beginning in September 2014.  Read more about current research here.
