Pre-CAP and CAP students: Definitions

In the Conditional Admissions Program (CAP) at the ELI, our students often hear two terms: “Pre-CAP students” and “CAP students.”

What does this mean?

  • Pre-CAP students are those who have applied for the Conditional Admissions Program and who are waiting for an admissions decision from the university or college of their choice (they have not yet been accepted to university).
  • CAP students are those who have already been accepted into the CAP partner college or university program of their choice and are working toward the completion of their Academic English requirements at the ELI.
