So….we had a great day today. It was super tiring though. We went to visit the Shanghai Museum of Art, where we spent an hour touring and looking around. First, I saw an awesome collection of coins that varied from size to size. They had the ones where you can string the red thread through the middle, and others like the sword coins, which were practically mini-swords that were used as coins (weird I know, but cool). We then moved down a floor to see some awesome masks, wherein I saw the legendary dragon-ox. It was a floating red dragon with humungous ox horns, so I figured it was special. Another highlight of the outing was seeing, “Rocky the rock-dog”(Tim Bloom), who was a ceramic dog we found.

We moved onto the Shanghai Urban Planning Building, where we saw Shanghai and its future plans in their miniature forms. It was amazing, and it was fun to see what Shanghai, as a city would evolve into. It was very detailed, and I can only imagine how hard it was to make it accurate. After we left, we went and got ice cream at a local Hagen-Daaz, where the cashier only took about 15 minutes per person. I then bought the largest cup possible and ate it…

After this, we went to see the Shanghai Art Gallery. This was also very cool, but I think we spent a bit too long here. Nevertheless, it was a great experience seeing the intricately designed paintings and drawings of various landscapes, etc.  We moved on to eat dinner, where Malin ate a green chili thinking it was a green bean… so then David and I of course had to have a contest to see which one of us could eat the most. He won because I actually wanted to enjoy the food, and did not want to preoccupy myself by having to try and make the chili go away. We came back, and we all frantically studied (or at least tried to) for Dr. Chen’s culture class quiz. So here I am, falling asleep on the ……
