Pemberton Hall
Yesterday CHAD took a field trip to Salisbury, Maryland to visit on-going preservation efforts at Pemberton Historical Park. Pemberton Park’s 262-acres contains hiking trails, reconstructed outbuildings, as well as a 1741 brick dwelling, Pemberton Hall.

CHAD’s Rebecca Sheppard, as well as representatives from Sussex County Land Trust, and the Sussex County Planning Office, are all serving on a committee for the recently acquired 1727, Cannon-Maston house in Seaford Delaware. The committee is in charge of creation and implementation of a preservation plan for the building.

Cannon-Maston, like Pemberton Hall, is considered a “Maryland House.” Cannon-Maston House was once located in Maryland, and is believed to be the oldest extant building in the state of Delaware. The group traveled to Salisbury, to see other preservation efforts on the Eastern Shore, and to get ideas on possible directions to take the interpretation of Cannon-Maston House in.
